Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
Indiana State law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions include:
- Suspected abuse of a child, dependent adult, or senior adult, which I am required - by law - to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- Threatening serious bodily harm to another person, in which case I must notify the police and the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I am obligated by State law to take further measures - with or without their permission - in order to ensure their safety.
- If I am court ordered to release mental health records, I must do so.
